Gold-filled, a specialty of the USA, is a material where a layer of gold weighing at least 1/20th (5%) of the total weight is bonded to the surface of brass using high heat.
With approximately 100 times the thickness of standard plating, it accommodates those with allergies, resists peeling, and maintains its beautiful gold texture for years.
